Texas Panhandle

I made it! I made the 14 hr drive in two days and reached the northern Texas metropolis of Amarillo, Texas. It sure is a beauty up here. Not. It's dry, windy, and very dusty. I'm in the middle of week three and working hard. I've made a whopping 29 installs so far and only have 171 left to go! We have been working in the small towns in the whole panhandle of Texas with names that include Borger, Dumas, Fritch, Dalhart, Canadian, and Perryton. Got to love the small town feel. Most everyone is nice, cowboy, hick, or somewhere in between. There are a lot of oil refineries and meat packing plants that dot the area. So thats where most people work.

The sales crew is amazing this year. They are led by a stalwart, veteran Vivint bro who can sell like a machine. They do really good in trying to help us out as Techs and work hard to get us installs. I really have no complaints! They encourage people to tip us which helps with the gas... Which we spend a lot on. The tech crew is even better with seasoned veterans like Nate, Timmy, and D-rock. We've also got some great rookies who are picking it up quick. Living quarters are leaps and bounds better than living in hotels and I love that Buffalo Wild Wings is right next door.

Great start to a great summer. Installs are coming, good times are being had, and orange is still my favorite color. More to come as the summer adventures of a Technician continue!

Oh the life of a technician.

And So It Begins

The summer months are coming rapidly and technicians all over the United States are getting ready for another summer of hard work, I included. Sales teams are recruiting like crazy and trying to entice 1,000's of college students to come sell for them. Offering incentives, free iPads, better pay scales, tons of money, and a summer of fun! Yay! I've been to five different lunch/dinner appointments and had to turn all of them down. Great presentations but I know what I'm going to do this summer. I'm going to rejoin my league of Technicians of America and continue installing security to the people of Amarillo, Texas.

That's right, Northern Texas. I will be rejoining my former crew with Tristan as the boss man. I just can't wait. Another long, hot summer installing home security systems. I've been to about 10 hours of training so far. Have a few more hours and I'll be ready to go! I'll be departing my family the first week of April and won't return until the end of August. I'm tickled pink. And I get to start blogging again. Yeehaw.
